Haines 4th of July Parade and Fireworks Show!
The Independence Day celebration is happening this year in Haines, Alaska!
We are excited to be back on Main Street for the parade on Sunday, July 4th, at 12:30 PM (lineup at 12:00). Judges will be selected to award parade participants cash prizes for the best float, bike, music/dance number, and dog. Traditional celebration activities such as the foot races and money toss, watermelon contest, and spike driving and nail pounding contest will take place immediately following the parade. Since Tlingit Park will be undergoing renovations, we have decided to kick-off these festivities at the Southeast Alaska State Fairgrounds.
Vendor food booths at the fair will be available for community groups and non-profits to host fundraisers. We are also looking for groups to organize the following celebration activities at the fairgrounds:

-
Music Fest
-
Mount Ripinski Run
-
Pie-eating and/or hot-dog eating contest
-
Mud Volleyball
-
Tug-of-war contest
-
Carnival games
-

If you are an organization planning to sell food and would like to reserve a booth, or would like to host an activity, contact the Chamber at director.haineschamber@outlook.com or call 766-2202.
Each year our Chamber events committee selects a theme for the parade and celebration activities. In 2018 we celebrated our “Heroes”, in 2019 we went “Back to our Roots with an Old-Fashioned 4th”, and in 2020 we safely gathered for a reverse-style parade with “Dr. Seuss.” We leave this year’s theme up to the community. What creative ways can you think of to celebrate the 4th of July in Haines this year? Please comment with your theme idea on the Chamber’s Facebook page or email.
Lastly, we will brighten the evening sky with a fireworks display at Picture Point at 11:00 PM. This year’s Independence Day celebration is something you do not want to miss. It’s been a very difficult year for our community, and we hope this celebration will liven our spirits.
